Most of them are available here. so just sudo port install package. Mplayer is available there but uses an old rc from 3 years ago last i checked. Since mplayer hasn't had a more recent release for Mac OS X. It's remarkably unstable.

So yes, the 1-2 second lag is there and yes, I am no fan of the most recent version of macOS that I've been trashing in other threads as of late, but I'd rather wait 2 seconds for something I'll never do again than go through the constant pain that is working with Windows.
