"Well..." Viktor took another large sip of his soykaf before continuing, making a highly satisfied sigh afterwards. "Ooh yeah. That's the stuff! Anyway, I'd keep the backup to a minimum. You want to get in, get done, and get out before those weirdos figure out you're there. Last thing you need is a Hellhound ruining those good looks." Pausing, he looked slightly confused before holding a finger up. "Oh yeah, they have Hellhounds. The target shouldn't be too heavily guarded."

"Hellhounds? Seriously?" Glitch sighed, rolling her eyes, "Of course they do. Sarah should suffice. At the very least, I'll need someone to watch my back in case I have to hack security, and she seems to finally get who's in charge."
She wrinkled her nose at the soykaf in front of her and stood, "If that's all, I suppose I have an errand to run. Before I do, though," she paused in the middle of taking her first step away and turned back, "if you have the time, I'd like for you to investigate a name for me. That guy Bateman in the Barrens. Let's call it a personal project. You're better at pounding the pavement than I am, and I'll need anything you can turn up, even if it seems inconsequential."

He raised an eyebrow at Glitch and her request in the middle of noting that he'd be having to pay a second runner. "Bateman? He's a new Johnson if I remember. I should have some..." pausing, he pulled out his Pocket Secretary and began tapping at the screen. A few moments later he nodded, strangely calm given how much soykaf he'd apparently had. "Yeah, right here. Pays way too much for his contracts. I'll see if I can dig anything else up on him." He waved Glitch off without looking up from his screen with the assumption that their business was done. Viktor never did like to talk pay when he was hyped up on caffeine.
The details in the file she'd been sent were extensive. Paul Allen, a middle-aged wage slave in Aztechnology's tech department, officially listed as a member of programming R&D. Single, lived by himself in a corporate owned condo, had a vehicle that made sense for his salary, and only had a few parking/speeding tickets on his record. No family on record...only child with dead parents. According to the file Allen had been at the Aztechnology research facility for a week straight. The facility itself was low security, but the schematics showed a massive security spike around the area of the building Allen supposedly worked in. Each challenge had a notation from Viktor. An identcard for security, passcodes for the maglocks, the works. Whoever had approached Viktor knew security well. This reeked of an inside job.

Lovely, Glitch sighed as she reviewed the information upon reaching the warehouse. As if there wasn't already enough about this to make me nervous.
She was getting her gear together when she heard the side door open and close. After a brief moment of internal tension, she caught sight of Sarah's bulk on one of the security cameras, and a few moments later, the troll's distinctive voice - a lilting tone at odds with her appearance - asked, "Is that all?"
"It's enough to get us in, assuming Victor's done his job properly," Glitch replied. "You'll want to change into the extra uniform. We're leaving as soon as my secretary's done charging, about ten minutes."
"What about weapons?" Sarah demanded.
"Bring what you can easily conceal. This is supposed to be a quick and clean assassination run. We don't need to risk causing too much suspicion before the deed is done."
A glare from Glitch was enough to silence the troll's objections. It went unspoken between them that Sarah's penchant for bringing large, heavily damaging, and loud weapons had limited stealth options in the past. Within a few minutes, they were both ready and set on their way across the city to the location. There had been some discussion along the way on how they might handle the security around Allen's building, but hard decisions were difficult without knowing exactly what kind of security it was.

At the gate of Aztechnology Glitch found that Viktor's legwork had indeed been thorough. Her ID wasn't even given a second glance as she and Sarah were ushered into the facility by a bored looking Orc guard with enough cyberware to make a Street Samurai blush. The long road from the security gate to the actual facility showed how much of a different world corporate owned property was compared to the rest of the world. The grass was perfectly manicured, trees placed at evenly spaced intervals along the road to provide just enough shade so that the sun couldn't blind her. This led to a clean, maintained parking garage where another man, this one an Elf with zero tech visible, sat in a guard booth next to what appeared to be the only entrance into the building.
When they approached he looked up from his Tablet Secretary and smiled a practiced smile, his tone immaculately crafted to be pleasant and bland. "Hello there. I'm Indigo. Are you employees or visitors?" he asked, never taking his eyes off of theirs. Luckily his hands remained on his Tablet Secretary, so there was little chance he had tripped any alarms or activated any security measures.

"We're with IA," Glitch replied, flashing her forged ID badge against a scanner. Her tone was one of practiced indifference, almost matching the booth man's. "That time of the year again. Tedious work, but it has to be done."
A moment later, the scanner flashed with a cheery green light, indicating the badge's validity. Inwardly, Glitch smirked. Smooth so far, now to pray the rest was as easy.

"Ah, we've been expecting you. I think you'll find our facilities to be beyond satisfactory. Please head through the door and follow the signs to Administration. The files are waiting for you." Indigo replied with a slightly more genuine smile.
Once inside the building there were signs pointing towards all manner of things. Administration happened to be on her way to Allen's office deeper in the complex, if she chose to go there. Otherwise, the most direct route was to head straight forward towards another door, this one seemingly unlocked and unsecured.

Making her decision in the time it takes for a computer to calculate the square root of nine, Glitch took the halls leading to Administration. Sarah chose this moment to object, but her complaint was quickly quelled with a brief explanation of how it would seem more natural if they were found wandering with files in hand, having checked in and "begun their examinations", should they run into any security personnel. Taking a few extra minutes in order to increase their chances of avoiding a fight was the more prudent option.

As Glitch and Sarah rounded the corner to the Administration office they met no resistance or issue. The door was unlocked as well...strange, as there was a maglock attached. Inside of the room were rows of filing cabinets and external data drives, cables leading to a central computer hub which seemed to be disconnected from the Matrix entirely. Whatever was on the terminal could only be accessed in meat space. It was simple to look through the files. Most of them were clearly routine paperwork meant for day-to-day record keeping. One filing cabinet, marked "Decommissioned", was locked though. No key to the cabinet could be found in the room.

Glitch sifted through the files until she found a few likely-looking reports related to the research labs. Those would do quite nicely. Sarah was interested in prying open the locked drawer, but Glitch maintained that they should wait until their objective was complete. It wasn't necessary to tip anyone off that something was amiss until they were already on their way out. She passed a few relevant file folders to Sarah, and they made a beeline for the research areas and Mr. Allen. They moved quickly, but were careful not to make themselves look any more suspicious than necessary.

The path to Paul Allen was uneventful until they reached the door leading into the inner complex. Once they stepped out of the building they noticed that the entire structure was covered in arcane writings and sigils to long-dead gods and entities. Grass no longer grew in the gardens around the inner complex, looking to have been scorched away. Whatever was going on here was dangerous. The door to the outer complex shut behind them, locking without a handle. It seemed they'd need a key to unlock that door again...which also seemed to have mystic scribblings on it.

"Fan-fucking-tastic, Glitch," Sarah hissed to her. "You better not know a damn thing about any of this."
"Chill out, Sarah, you don't want to chance setting anything off. We can't expect Viktor to know everything about a job like this, but now I'm really wishing we could have waited for Faolan to recover."
"Are any of these active, or are they just cosmetic?"
"I can't tell, but I'd assume that some are. Try not to touch any."
She motioned for the troll to follow and began carefully making her way through the burned gardens. Get the job done and leave. Getting the hell out of Azzie turf was seeming more and more desirable by the minute.

The various runes and markings along the walls of the complex were simple markings to the untrained eyes of Glitch and Sarah. Despite this, the very air around them was oppressively hot and stank of burning. There were no cameras, but the feeling that they were being watched was overwhelming. As they advanced on the inner structure, telltale paw prints were seen in the ashen dirt...the Hellhounds must patrol this part of the complex but were absent for the moment.
The door to the inner structure had a single window in it, a way for those inside to see who was outside without the aid of technology. On the other side of the door was a man with his back turned, hair buzzed and skin light. He looked human though, given the ears. Either he was ignoring Glitch and Sarah or hadn't noticed them, as he wasn't turning around even when they were right at the door.

Glitch motioned to Sarah to keep her distance while she took a better look at the room through the door's window.

Finally turning around, Glitch was met with a familiar, sunken face. The new scar didn't help with his fading looks, though the addition of cyber eyes caught her attention. They were obvious, looking like something from the retro film Terminator than the modern tech usually seen in the shadows. It was at this point that Glitch found out the room was sound proof. Damien's confused look followed by him saying her name from behind the door confirmed that.
